Windows Startup symptoms include ... slow pc performance, sluggish behaviour, screen freeze,...

One of the most powerful troubleshooting techniques around is to Google the error message. However, this is getting a bit trickier: in any case you need to ignore all the 'sponsored links' that pop up. Some folks have ads through google which take you to sites that claim their little tool can fix your error, no matter what it is; in fact they can make up a page on the fly which addresses your specific problem. At least you can have some fun with it:

Here's the URL: http://free.pc-error-repair.org/error/library/Windows%20startup.html

Here's another fun one - in this one they also cook up a bunch of bogus testimonials.

Good to hear that, Mike.

It's also interesting that the page title is 'How Can I Fix xyz?' and the heading of the comments section is '12 Comments on "How Do I Fix xyz?"'.. great attention to detail there, Mr. the PC nerd.

OK, one more, but this one's going to cost $800B:
